Education, engagement and fundraising at the heart of the initiative Campaign to run throughout 2020

A+E Networks® EMEA will launch a television campaign next month that calls for the end of violence against women. Led by the Crime+Investigation® network, the campaign will also have a strong presence across HISTORY®, Lifetime®, BLAZE® and Cosmo TV channels across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The campaign will highlight the urgency of the growing problem across the region:

- One woman is murdered every three hours in South Africa
- Domestic violence killings are at a 5 year high in the UK rising to 173 deaths in 2018
- A woman is killed by a partner or ex-partner every three days in Germany
- Almost 7 million Italian women, aged 16 to 70, have been victim of violence at least once in their lifetime
- More than one thousand women have been murdered due to gender violence over the last 15 years in Spain

Education, engagement and fundraising are at the heart of the year-long campaign to shine a light on the different ways that violence affects our audiences, drive actionable conversation, forge ties with local influencers, showcase support available and fundraise for local charity partners so that they may continue their important work.

The A+E Networks EMEA portfolio of channels commits to create and share stories which will challenge the way we think about violence and abuse of women.  And the Crime+Investigation network has extensive experience telling difficult, hard-hitting stories truthfully and sensitively. These stories will be woven through on-air and VOD special programming events, social and digital content, marketing, corporate and consumer facing communications. This campaign has the potential to reach nearly 74m viewers across the A+E Networks EMEA portfolio.

The network group created an internal task force drawn from across the EMEA region, who have worked independently and with local experts to carefully consider the most impactful ways to help change lives. Aimed at both men and women, the campaign will officially launch on Monday 25th November 2019 - International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

A+E Networks EMEA has previously supported campaigns to raise awareness of violence against women in Spain and Africa. Most recently A+E Networks Italy received an award by NGO Differenza Donna for commitment, help and support to defend women’s rights.
