WARSAW/BUCHAREST, 11 April 2024- A+E Networks EMEA announces a new six-episode docu-reality series for Romania called Treasure Hunters: Romania. The show will air on the HISTORY Channel in Romania in May 2024.

Retracing Romania's rich history through the tales of valuable artifacts, Treasure Hunters will delve into objects of profound historical significance and collectibles with transactional value, from art objects once owned by the Royal Family to relics from the communist era. A team of four vintage dealers and antique auctioneers, led by the dynamic Liviu Andrei, Gabi Badea, Dan Greere, and Ștefana Micu, embark on a thrilling 48-hour quest to meet the demand of prospects and clients. In each episode, these daring 'hunters' will scour flea markets, unearth personal collections, and entice sellers into their shops to pursue the most intriguing and lucrative items to fulfill their client's requests. They strategise, negotiate, and make daring purchases, all hoping to stumble upon a real treasure.

“The HISTORY Channel has been a leading factual TV channel in Romania for over ten years. Following two recent productions that delved into the history and mysteries of Romania, this time, we have crafted a more engaging format, still with ‘history’ at its core. Romania is an important market player for us, and we are committed to investing even more in local productions,” said Karol Bek, Senior Commercial Director and Country Manager for Romania at A+E Networks EMEA.

“The joy of discovering a valuable object in an old box in the attic, the excitement of finding a ‘cheap’ treasure at a flea market, the adrenaline of intense negotiation, or the anxiety of a risky purchase are just some real-life situations the show captures. Treasure Hunters is a reality show presenting stories and histories about Romania,” says the show's producer, Agnieszka Kubiak, Head of Content Development and Creative at A+E Networks EMEA.

“We're delighted to produce ‘Treasure Hunters’ for the HISTORY Channel. It's not only about finding and purchasing vintage and antique objects but also about the history of Romania, told through these objects. ‘Treasure Hunters’ is also a shared Paprika-HISTORY format, and we hope this will be the start of a lasting partnership,” added Christophe Brackx, Managing Director of Paprika Studios Romania.

Treasure Hunters is HISTORY Channel's third local series for Romania, following “The Mystery of Dacian Gold” and “Marcel Iureș presents Romania Enigmas." The series is produced by Paprika Studios, which operates in 8 countries across Central and Eastern Europe. It develops and produces entertainment programmes, reality, and fiction series for more than 30 channels in 16 languages, with over 600 hours a year.
