Award-Winning Series Returns to Crime + Investigation®

LONDON: 17th July 2017 – A+E Networks is recommissioning its Crime + Investigation® series Critical Evidence, hosted by award winning actor and author Robbie Coltrane.

Following its success at the RTS Scotland Awards, where it scooped the ‘Best Factual Entertainment and Features’ award, A+E Networks has ordered a second series from IWC Media.  Filming has begun on the 8x60’ show, which follows Coltrane as he unveils the investigations behind some of the UK’s most complex and challenging murder investigations.

It will air on Crime + Investigation (CI) in the UK early 2018.

Cases covered in the new series include: The disappearance of 38 year old Suzanne Pilley, whose body  has never been found, and the eventual conviction of her ex-lover David Gilroy; The shocking case of Karen Price, who was only identified due to ground-breaking facial reconstruction techniques; And the posthumous conviction of Joseph Kappen, 27 years after he murdered three teenage girls in Llandarcy, a small village in south west Wales.

Koulla Anastasi, Channel Director for Crime + Investigation at A+E Networks UK, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with IWC Media’s talented team again on this award-winning CI series. The strong audience figures for season one proved that our viewers continue to be fascinated by the world of forensic science, particularly in the compelling company of Robbie Coltrane.”

Robbie Coltrane’s Critical Evidence launched in autumn 2016, becoming the highest rating series of 2016 on CI.

Susan McGregor, Series Producer for IWC Media, added: “The hardest cases to solve are those without an obvious lead, requiring a painstaking process of  gathering and evaluating evidence. These stories reveal the astonishing dedication of investigators determined to follow the trail until they catch the killer. We're delighted to be making a second series for CI that will make gripping viewing for its loyal crime audience.”
