LONDON (3 August 2015): A+E Networks UK announced the appointment of Nicolas Eglau as Chief Operating Officer and the promotion of Heather Jones to Senior Vice President, Content & Creative. The announcement was made by Dean Possenniskie, Managing Director, EMEA for A+E Networks, to whom both will report.
In this newly created role, Eglau will manage A+E Networks UK’s operating and commercial units in the UK and other territories including Finance, Legal, Operations, Strategy, Distribution and Ad Sales. He also serves as General Manager, Nordics, the Benelux and CEEMEA, overseeing the company’s offices in Copenhagen, Warsaw and Johannesburg. Eglau starts in his new role on September 1.
In her expanded role, Jones now manages all creative units of A+E Networks UK, including Programming, Marketing and Communications, Creative and Digital. Jones continues to serve as General Manager, UK, a role she assumed in February 2015. Jones joined A+E Networks UK in 2013 after serving as Managing Director at North One and Director of Television at Viacom UK.
A+E Networks UK, a joint venture between A+E Networks and Sky plc, currently operates 18 channels across the UK, Nordic, the Benelux, Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The venture has offices in London, Copenhagen, Warsaw and Johannesburg.

Eglau joins A+E Networks UK from RTL Netherlands after serving five years as a member of the Executive Board and Managing Director, Ventures. In this role he built and managed RTL Netherlands’ cable TV division, driving significant growth in revenue during his tenure. He managed the launch of RTL Lounge, RTL Crime and RTL Telekids, all of which sit as top performers in their genres. Eglau also managed a portfolio of high growth digital start-ups, ranging from disruptive e-learning platforms such as Squla to digital marketplaces such as Couverts. Previously, he was Vice President, Central and Eastern Europe for RTL Group. In this role, he executed a range of M&A initiatives across the region, and was seconded to London to drive the acquisition of Channel Five. Prior to joining RTL Group, Eglau held a Corporate Development position with Kirch Holding in Munich.

The announcement comes on the heels of A+E Networks’ appointment of Amanda Hill as Chief Creative Officer, International and Edward Sabin as Managing Director, Americas and Head of Commercial Operations, International. Hill, Sabin and Possenniskie report to Sean Cohan, Executive Vice President, International. Alan Hodges, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Christopher Barry, Senior Vice President, International Strategy and Financial Planning, and Joel Denton, Managing Director, International Content Sales and Partnerships, round out Cohan’s executive team.
