LONDON (24 August 2015) A+E Networks UK announced the appointment of Adrian Pilkington as Senior Vice President, Distribution and Strategy, effective from 1 September. The announcement was made by Dean Possenniskie, Managing Director, EMEA for A+E Networks.
In this newly created role, Pilkington will oversee the strategic planning and execution of branded channel and digital distribution across the UK, Nordic, the Benelux and CEEMEA. Pilkington will also be responsible for developing A+E Networks UK’s high-growth corporate strategy with COO Nicolas Eglau, to whom he will report.
A+E Networks UK, a joint venture between A+E Networks and Sky plc, currently operates 18 channels across the UK, Nordic, the Benelux, Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The venture has offices in London, Copenhagen, Warsaw and Johannesburg.
The announcement follows the recent appointment of Eglau as COO and the promotion of Heather Jones to Senior Vice President, Content and Creative. Both report to Possenniskie, along with Karl Burnett, Vice President, Human Resources.
“We are continuing to build a first class management team at A+E Networks UK to drive the growth of our brands and business,” said Possenniskie. “Distribution and Strategy is a key element to our future success and growth plans, and I am delighted to bring an executive of Adrian’s calibre and experience to lead this area of our business.”
Pilkington joins A+E Networks UK from Sky, where he served as Director of Partner Channels for the past five years. He was responsible for Sky’s successful commercial partnerships with over 60 retailed channels, fronting strategic initiatives such as Sky’s HD, Sky Go, and more recently the NOW TV partner channel launch program. He led a team of Commercial and Research executives responsible for Sky’s partnership strategy with all the key UK channel groups. Prior to joining Sky’s Channels & Operations team, Pilkington was responsible for the launch and management of Sky’s interactive business.
“I'm delighted to be joining the A+E Networks UK management team at such an exciting time. The company has raised its ambitions across all territories and it’s a privilege to be part of this new challenge,” said Pilkington.
